Lewis Roca Lawyers Named Fellows of Litigation Counsel of America
LAS VEGAS (September 27, 2022) – Lewis Roca is honored to announce two litigation lawyers, Ogonna M. Brown and E. Leif Reid, have been selected as Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America. A prestigious, invitation-only honorary organization in which Fellows are recognized for their litigation and trial work and provide guidance and leadership on issues and legislation affecting the American judicial litigation process.
With the addition of Brown and Reid, the firm has seven lawyers who have been named as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
Reid is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and handles the most complex cases facing businesses and individuals in Nevada, with a particular emphasis on preparing and taking cases to trial. For more than 25 years, clients have frequently retained Reid to lead trial teams in “bet-the-company” litigation. He handles cases that involve complex and varying subject matters, filed in all jurisdictions across the state of Nevada, including antitrust, unfair competition, liquor distribution, utilities and renewable energy, contract and business disputes, and product liability and mass torts.
As an experienced lead lawyer in numerous months-long jury and bench trials, Reid has also conducted hundreds of hearings, and proceedings, including utility rate cases, injunction hearings, multi-district litigation, and contested evidentiary hearings. He practices in nearly every federal and state regulatory environment in Nevada, litigating before administrative law judges and boards, and challenging administrative decisions in state and federal courts. Reid has also successfully argued numerous cases on appeal to both the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In addition to his litigation practice, Reid has an extensive Liquor Law practice representing clients in matters adverse to breweries, including Anheuser-Busch InBev, MillerCoors, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Heineken, and Deschutes. He has assisted his liquor clients in obtaining multimillion-dollar jury verdicts, permanent injunctive relief to protect brands and distribution rights from infringement, and regulatory and legislative changes strengthening Nevada’s three-tier liquor distribution system from black and gray market products.
Prior to joining the firm, Reid gained extensive trial and appellate argument experience as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the White-Collar Crime Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas prior to entering private practice. He also clerked for Chief Judge Procter Hug, Jr. of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Reid received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his B.A. from Brigham Young University.
A partner and member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, Brown practices in the areas of complex business litigation and bankruptcy, focusing on creditors’ rights. She is passionate about mentoring up-and-coming lawyers and taking pro bono cases, staying highly active with the William S. Boyd School of Law’s mentoring programs and with Legal Aid of Southern Nevada. She is also active in the community, donating to Shade Tree, Goodwill of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. Brown is a former office holder and current board member of the Southern Nevada Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys and serves on the executive committee with the Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court. In 2020, she was appointed by Nevada Governor Sisolak to serve as a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission for a four-year term.
Brown is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and was the recipient of the Clark County Law Foundation Liberty Bell award in 2020. She has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America for the past two years in the areas of bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law. Additionally, Brown has been named a Top Lawyer in bankruptcy by Vegas Inc. since 2021 and as a Mountain States Super Lawyer in bankruptcy: business for more than 10 years.
Prior to joining the firm, Brown was a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Johnnie B. Rawlinson, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. She received her J.D. from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, and her B.A. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
