Lewis Roca Lawyer Named to 2020 Class of Native American 40 Under 40

PHOENIX (November 23, 2020) – Lewis Roca announced that Indian law lawyer, Jacob B. Schellinger, has been named to the 2020 Class of Native American 40 Under 40 by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. This annual recognition recognizes 40 up-and-coming American Indian and Alaska Native leaders under the age of 40 across Indian Country. The Class of 2020 40 Under 40, despite the challenges of an global pandemic, have exemplified leadership, initiative and dedication to their communities and business goals.

Schellinger’s practice focuses on advising tribal governments and tribal entities on economic development and governance matters. His experience working on Indian law and policy at the national level informs his approach to serving client needs. Schellinger is committed to proactively devising strategies and developing options to meet client goals. This approach includes routinely monitoring law and policy developments that affect client interest areas, and drafting tribal law, policy and transactional documents to comply with applicable legal requirements.

With a background in government relations, Schellinger served as Vice President of Government Relations for the National Congress of American Indians. He was also Counsel for the Office of the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs which provided him the opportunity to engage with numerous tribal leaders, congressional members and staff, agency officials, interest groups and others regarding legislation, regulatory activity and legal matters affecting tribal governments.

Schellinger received his J.D. from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and his B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
