Lewis Roca Names Joshua Chu as Managing Partner of California Offices

LOS ANGELES (July 30, 2020) – Lewis Roca has appointed Joshua Chu the managing partner of its California offices. The firm’s Los Angeles and Silicon Valley offices consist of more than 40 intellectual property lawyers who focus on delivering service in the areas of trademark prosecution, patent prosecution, licensing, opinion work, post-grant proceedings and litigation. Opened in 1954 and 2009 respectively, the Los Angeles and Silicon Valley offices have a long history of representing clients in California and around the world on some of the most well-known IP matters and cases. Chu succeeds Anne Wang who served in this role from 2016 through 2019.

“I am really looking forward to serving as managing partner of the firm’s California offices and to working closely with the firm’s leadership in all of our offices,” said Chu. In his new role, Chu will continue to strengthen the firm’s long-standing commitment to clients doing business in and out of California, as well as strengthening ties in the local communities in which the firm’s attorneys have lived and worked with for decades.

In addition to his role as managing partner of the firm’s California offices, Chu is a patent lawyer who handles the prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications for clients. With a background in engineering and specific experience in biomedical, mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering, Chu’s experience provides him the opportunity to counsel clients on the valuation of their portfolios from both a legal and business perspective.

A member of the firm since 2007, Chu currently serves as a member of the firm’s Strategic Study Group as well as the firm’s Associate Compensation and Review Committee. He received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, his M.S. from the University of Southern California and his B.S. from Harvey Mudd College.
