Lewis Roca Partner Receives UNLV Public Interest Law 2023 Silver Service Award
PHOENIX (March 1, 2023) – Lewis Roca partner, Ogonna Brown, was selected as this year's Public Interest Law Association’s Silver Service Award Honoree at the William S. Boyd School of Law’s 24th Annual Silver State Auction. The Silver Service Award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the protection of individual rights, and the advancement of justice for the good of the general public. Nominated by members of the legal community, Brown was recognized for being an involved and inspirational community leader, for her work with the Partners in Pro Bono Program, and her contributions to numerous local charities and involvement with public interest organizations.
A partner and member of the firm’s Litigation practice group, Brown practices in the areas of complex business litigation and bankruptcy, focusing on creditors’ rights. She is passionate about mentoring up-and-coming lawyers and taking pro bono cases through her involvement with William S. Boyd School of Law’s mentoring programs and the Legal Aid of Southern Nevada. Brown is a member of the Southern Nevada Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys and serves on the executive committee with the Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court. She also serves as a Commissioner on the Nevada Gaming Commission.
Brown is continually recognized for her contributions to the legal field and Las Vegas community. The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada named her a Girl Scout Honoree where she was presented with the Take Action badge in August 2022, and she was the recipient of the Clark County Law Foundation Liberty Bell award in 2020. She has also been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America for the past two years in the areas of bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law and is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. Additionally, Brown has been named a Top Lawyer in bankruptcy by Vegas Inc. since 2021 and as a Mountain States Super Lawyer in bankruptcy: business for more than 10 years.
Prior to joining the firm, Brown was a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Johnnie B. Rawlinson, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. She received her J.D. from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
