Colorado Springs; Lunch with a Lawyer - September 12, 2017
Employee or independent contractor? The conversation is heating up all over the country and the penalties are substantial for getting this wrong. When an employer does not withhold taxes from a worker—even at the worker’s request—the employer risks the ire of a number of governmental agencies, not the least of which is the IRS. If you use a 1099 for any of your workers, this is a Lunch with a Lawyer that you should attend.
Eric Kniffin is an attorney in the firm’s Employment Practice Group and represents businesses and employers in all types of employment matters, including defending and enforcing restrictive covenants, wrongful termination issues, discrimination issues and handling matters before the EEOC and its state counterparts.
We provide the lunch; you provide the questions. This luncheon will not be a lecture, but is designed to provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about specific situations you have or might encounter.
This topic is designed for business owners and managers, nonprofit directors, church and ministry leaders, human resources managers, finance managers, and others who work in decision-making or support roles in your organization.
