Nevada Gaming Control Board Issues Gaming Technology Approval Guidelines
, ,

Earlier this week, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (“Board”) released a notice to licensees encouraging the introduction and use of new and innovative technology into the gaming industry in Nevada. To achieve this objective, the Board released guidelines to expedite the evaluation of gaming technology, effective July 1, 2024. The guidelines do not modify or amend any regulation adopted by the Nevada Gaming Commission (“NGC”), rather they are meant to incorporate the processes the Board intends to follow within the existing parameters of the NGC regulations.

The Board’s evaluation of gaming technology may now include a physical inspection and/or a field test period. However, the Board will rely, to the fullest extent possible, on the certification results of a registered Independent Testing Laboratory during the evaluation process. Similar to the Board’s ACES Initiative, which we previously analyzed (and can be viewed here), these guidelines serve as another example of the Board’s continuing efforts to make Nevada more accessible to innovation. You can view the Board’s full Gaming Technology Approval Guidelines Notice to Licensees here.

As the guidelines take effect on July 1st, stakeholders in the gaming industry should stay informed and prepared to adapt to these new processes. By streamlining the evaluation process and leveraging the expertise of Independent Testing Laboratories, the Board is paving the way for new technologies to be integrated more swiftly and efficiently. This move not only enhances Nevada's reputation as a hub for gaming innovation but also ensures that technological advancements can be adopted within a robust regulatory framework.
